This website was established to provide information about the settlement of a class action involving The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company ("NM"). The settlement received final approval on January 30, 2009, by order of the Los Angeles Superior Court. Some class members have appealed the settlement. Accordingly, payment of any funds and the provision of other benefits under the settlement have been postponed indefinitely pending resolution of the appeals process. Once the order becomes final under the terms of the settlement, cash payments will be provided to all persons or entities who did not opt out of the settlement and who at any time owned a Term Policy, Series MN through TT, issued by NM (excluding Extra-Ordinary Term policies, as well as Term Policies that were issued but not accepted or that were returned to the Company or were rescinded). In addition, all persons or entities who did not opt out of the settlement and who at any time owned an individual Disability Policy, Series LL through RR, issued by NM (excluding Disability Policies that were issued but not accepted or that were returned to the Company or were rescinded) will automatically receive information about dividends on their NM policies in a pamphlet.
